Grigori Perelman is quite well known among the scientific-academics. The NewYorker article by Sylvia Nasser (a beautiful mind et al) about Perelman can be found here.

And the surprising part- a blog post by Stephen Dubner (freakonomics et al) wondering what’s common between Theodore John Kaczynski ( a.k.a. the Unabomber) and Perelman.
