or “sundarakaanda”?

This Girish Karnad directed movie has Shankar Nag and Sundar Krishna Aras and Akshata Rao in lead roles. I’m not sure when this movie was released. I bought the VCDs of this movie way back in 2004. I don’t remember exact details about the movie other than that it had authentic feel about the characters- the actors were beleivable and the sets looked real. It had good action sequences and I think Sundar Krishna Aras was very good in the movie. Shot mostly in the forest areas of Karnataka(Dandeli, if I’m not wrong), to put it simply and artlessly, it’s about some warlords scheming for power(and all). I just checked now that the VCD version i have is 138 minutes long.

Interestingly, for me, Shankar Nag’s first movie was the last movie of his I had seen, till yesterday. Yesterday, while going through some VCDs randomly at a store, I came across this movie called “Nagabekamma Nagabeku”. That reminds me… I need to list the Shankar Nag moviesI have seen.

PS: Was this movie insipred by Kurosawa? I’ve seen Kagemusha and Rashomon. Somehow it reminded me of Kurosawa.
